Hi, do you offer this service if we send you out frame? I dont see it on the website Thank you
No but Northwest Frame Repair out of WA does. Tell 'em I sent you. John
Use methylene Chloride... With out ventilation. Helps with depopulation agenda and forms a chemical weld 😂 seriously though don't trust an optician or assembler with that. The stuff is awesome but literally eats holes in respirator filters. Only use it outside or under a fume hood
So needed this reminder. Been a rough week.
Thank you 💙
You explain good sir. Thank you
Do you sell these non-Rx for just stylish driving glasses?
No but if you drop me an email through the OpticianWorks website we might be able to connect you with someone that does.
Or just use acetone
Your videos helped me pass my ABO back in January and now I'm studying for my NCLE! Thank you so much! I know so many appreciate the guidance and teaching!
You are welcome!
This is how I was taught. Most companies will not let you do add on to customers glasses.
Loved this🎉
What device is used to test transmittance reflectance and absorption?
A basic UV meter.
@@LaramyKOptical ??
I absolutely love watching all your videos! This is one of my favorites! I appreciate the time you took to do the testing, very eye opening.
Thanks - That one is one of my all time favorites too! John
I knowbim latw to the game but i had to get my firat pair of glasses a d rhe optometrist auggested progressive. I hate them for comouter work. Your videos have helped me underatand why. Now i know what to ask about.
Dear Larmy K, I want to ask, if we have prescription like -3.50-0.50 180*. Can we exclude the cyl as it is quite less, As spehrical lenses are affordable as compare to toric lenses. Regards Optispecs Pakistan
Yes with that little cylinder you can certainly use a spherical lens.
These videos are helpful but man I hate this guy...
Thank you soo much for making these videos. I recently finished an optician high school and im preparing for my for a job at an optic. This channel helps me a lot when i want to remind my self about the pillars of what is most important to know as an optician !

I am new to the optic business. I live far away but everything is the same. I will be very happy to see a video of yours for how to find the problem in progressive lenses in people. Is there step by step tutorial for things like this. Thanks in advance!
OpticianWorks.com
Thank you 👍
What's the name of the lens which provides all three vision dis, inter , add except progressive??
Lined trifocal. Rare but still made and sold.
your videos have been super useful! most of my local eyewear shops are staffed by people who don't know much beyond how to fill the orders
Fascinating process. Thank you so much for documenting this in such detail. Love this video. I will never complain again about the cost of my lenses !
Laramy K Optical...Hello John, I want to tell you that I am one of your followers, but I haven't seen you for a while, until now that I see you again... I am an optician, also with several years of experience and I watch your channel, to learn something or just as a reminder...your topics are interesting...🙂👍...
Hello! And thanks for watching me. John
@@LaramyKOptical thanks...🤓👍...
Would be very interested in any information on how the mirror coating process is done!
Same process as AR application just a different recipe.
Laramy is my optical god
It happens and they can be very dramatic as well😂
Panoscopic Tilt?
This is also an Italian problem 1/10 have this reaction ,and every time i have to try not to laugh because is so unexpected
And then, when you find out that the prescription is too strong or the lenses are installed on the wrong side or the focal points are incorrect…then what?
The store, OD office, or optometry center where you are dispensing should have procedures in place for troubleshooting and offering solutions to the patient.

If I ever sell prescription glasses I goes I’ll keep that in mind
Thanks for the optician training vid, RUclips. 🤣
This happens to me all the time
Idk, but I have been in the field for almost 20 years, but I bet the progressive is owned by Essilor, maybe even Zeiss or Hoya... Maybe Essilor will buy them out, and we'll have no choice but to say Essilor makes the best progressive for everyone... because they own them all.
No, no and hell no. Free-form created a level playing field so any independent lab (Laramy-K) with the right equipment and software can create a progressive lens every bit as good as anything from the big-E. Essilor hasn't' had the "best" progressive in 30 years now. There ain't no magic pixie dust.
Left cyl -2.00 Axis 013 , right cyl -1.00 Axis 150 Would you consider either of these axis numbers ok or bad for correcting ? Thank you
Axis is just a notation of lens position of rotation. 0 - 180.
What if the patient doesn't have an "average" OC. How would you go about a strabismus like hypertropia on a lensmeter for example?
My dad was an old school optometrist and always made me print out Rx's in .12ths
I do hope to be able to do a pair of glasses from you Though rarely overseas does. 😂

I just became a optical manager and the company is under new owner ship, the old company really burned Bridges with patients. Was doing remakes without even changing aby measurements or rx.
Find a good lab!!! The lab I use has a Hassle-Free remake policy since I can cut lenses at my practice. I can just say I made an edging error to the lab and they will send me free uncut lenses then I'll send the edges lenses back, yes I have to pay for shipping but if it means keeping the patient happy it's totally worth it and the couple of times it has happened the patient has always left happy. Insurance labs.. another story.
I'll take 500 videos more, please. I've dispensed over 30,000 glasses when I was an optician. They do get mad, especially with insurance. ESPECIALLY if the insurance plan lab didn't do something right or If on our side we didn't complete the claim correctly, and the insurance has to cancel the claim and have to start over from step 1. God help us all.
Here you go: ruclips.net/channel/UCdfKXBLjBDbX2X2g0XuAbmwvideos
"Insurance" or vision care plans should be streamlined enough that it is quite rare to have a filing error. For real actual insurance plans someone in a practice must know how to correctly process claims. For VCPs the opticians should be so familiar with them that errors are very rare. Money should always have been settled long before they leave the store so what is and isn't covered should be already be settled. As to VCP labs - well, that isn't your fault. Yes you are the go-between but you didn't make that pair wrong or incomplete in some way. Honestly it sounds like where you worked wasn't doing a very good job with policy, procedures and training.
For golfers, I like to place my business card holder on the floor (with its white cards in it) so the golfer can gaze downwards at something white to approximate a ball. For those golfers that like a super low ft28 segment, so they can show me how low they need it and when dispensing, reinforce that it will work great for them. Not that they are actually keeping score, right?
Fantastic! Thanks for the tip.
I really wish the place I went used new tech !
Excellent and informative video
1. What would be the point of an RX at the top but plano on the bottom unless the patient has some sort of multi-focal intraocular lens? 2. How do you combine the two lenses together? I've been in optometrics field for 18 years and have never seen this and am super curious. Thanks for you videos. Won't lie, I've used your videos for educational purposes for my optician staff, and it has helped immensely.
The full length video should help: ruclips.net/video/fJ1Sh5Ir7m0/видео.htmlsi=NJmCq8A0eQ1u3J30
Helloooooow , I'm recently new to glasses and went from none to progressive lenses. I'm finding the reading zone to be ok in size and the distance zone more than ample. It's the intermediate zone I'm really struggling with. The area is just way too small for my needs. I'm wondering if the add power for the reading zone was decreased, would that increase the intermediate zone size? Right now my reading clarity distance is about 8" to 16" closer than 8" gets blurry. Sphere. Cyl. Axis. Add. OD. -0.75 -1.00 150 +1.75 OS. -0.75 -2.00 013 +1.75 Question 2 , My left eye just won't focus as pin sharp as my right eye (its good just not as good ) . Is this do to the worse astigmatism in my left eye or is it the left lens is off ? My left has always been noticeably worse even before glasses. I've read that I should have gone with trivex over polycarbonate for the higher abbe value of trivex and increased clarity . I also read it is better for astigmatism too. I'm using semi rimless and wanted the eye protection of these 2 materials . I'm a bit annoyed that I wasnt told about trivex at the eye doctors. Especially when the brand lens we went with offer trivex. I've also experienced a slight haze like effect on the edges of things in the distance. Would trivex help with any of these issues ? Optical clarity is #1 for me . Thank you for any help and I'm really enjoying your videos.
1) No. You might gain 0.5mm of width going with a high-end free-form if you aren't already in one. The narrow intermediate is the nature of the beast. Get a SV 2nd pair for long term intermediate work. 2) Yes Trivex is a far optically superior a material and perfect for your lens powers. Yes it is the higher astigmatism that will alway have your left worse than your right.
@LaramyKOptical thank you very much. I'm about 10 days into glasses . I really wish I researched before getting them. I honestly didn't think I would be getting progressive lenses so I had no idea what was good, bad,etc . I blame myself and the optician for not giving me choices. I should have asked more questions. I've always done some research beforehand when making an important decision. He just picked everything for me, saying this is the brand /style we use. But never went into the material thier lenses were made of. Not one mention of anything other than polycarbonate as an option for me. They put me in the Varilux X even though the new one is the Varilux XR . I really think I'm just gonna get a SV pair for now. And get another cheap pair for reading . Definitely will be trivex though.
Does that lens clock trick work with high myopic rx's, which use very low base curves?
Keeping in mind that it is a "trick" or a rule-of-thumb it should work. I'd use it more as confirmation of what you already think is right. Work order says +2.00, lensmeter says really close to +2.00, lens clock says +2.00 = good to go. Remember that a lens clock is index specific.
bifocals is still the way to go, progressive is just garbage, tried for one wk and just dun work
Standard bench alignment
Trivex lens sucked with shooting test it failed. We don't need manufacturer gibberish to disprove that. Polycarbonate was winner in shooting test
You seem to have completely missed the point of the video. It is the coatings that a material gets that determines its impact resistance. Trivex and poly in their raw form are both highly impact resistant. A poly lens with a different coating may well have shattered just as the Trivex did.
I think you'd better wear your mask when polishing your work.
